For anyone who has ever tried to make a dollar online, the word “niche” is thrown about everywhere. It can seem an overused vernacular that results in us often becoming numb to the word. However, failing to understand the important of choosing the right niche is likely the single greatest deterrent in reaching your AdSense goals, or any other website monetization strategy.
As my AdSense earnings grow, I’ve noticed that I get a lot more email questions and almost all are relative to my earnings. “How are you doing that?” or “Can I see some of your websites?”.
First of all, let me just say that if I don’t know you and you’ve stopped by for the first time, never even so much as commented on a post and decided to just send an email asking if I would kindly reply and supply you with a list of all my success secrets, you might want to reconsider your plan. However, I’m revealing the biggest success “secret” of all in this post.. and it’s a secret that is found on many blogs all over the Internet.
With every intention of showing all of my websites and really trying to help others with a process of making money that I know works, I’ve had to change course just slightly. Unfortunately, I’ve read far too many stories of others sharing their most successful urls and encountering a lot of problems as a result. Therefore, I’m reconsidering how to share the most valuable information in gaining AdSense earnings without revealing more than necessary.
Not a big deal. I can still fully illustrate the method I use and get my point across. However, if you want a jump start on using my method, I can sum it up with one word: “Niche!” I have websites that hit the front page of Google within two weeks of releasing them. And I constantly create new websites. Some of these work really well and some of these fail miserably and are nowhere near the top. I don’t spend too much time worrying about the ones that don’t work.
Learn keyword analysis! It’s the one great resource you have that gives you insight into predicting if a website will work (usually).
There’s two really great ways to make money online, that anyone can do without having any product.
Focus on a single site or blog with a single subject of interest or expertise. Post to it most every day and work on your online social marketing skills. Over time, your blog will grow. It will likely take a few years, but eventually, you’ll have the traffic and content needed to make a nice income.
Build many smaller sites or “micro-niches” and pick subjects that have very little online information built around them. The smaller the niche, the better! This is the method I currently use to make my AdSense income, though I enjoy blogging more and more and plan to continue to grow my site through the years.
Choosing the right niche is all about spending a lot of time evaluating those pesky keywords and page rank of others on the first page of Google. Getting a website to the front page of Google will always require some work. For me, the promotional work I do is a no-brainer. I don’t have to spend any time with social media marketing and that is priceless. This makes the entire social media experience much more fun for me, as well. I don’t spend all my time tweeting about a product page I want you to visit and trying to reword it 50 different ways to trick you into coming
. I tweet about how I’m feeling and look for those people who have taken a personal interest in what I have to say by replying in a personal manner. I typically visit these blogs as these are the people seem much more real to me and not the normal snake oil salesmen that twitter is so full of. This allows me to enjoy the blogging aspect of being online as much as creating websites for income.
If the blogging aspect of being online isn’t of particular interest to you and your primary goal is to simply make money (and it understandably is for many), consider putting a lot more effort into choosing the right niche. Over time, you will gain experience and wisdom in whatever methods you employ to make money online and I highly suggest making your area of expertise “choosing the right niche”.
